The Church of the Holy Spirit is a rural Episcopal parish located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, near the college town of Mars Hill in Madison County, which is north of Asheville. Directions for getting here.
This is a welcoming, loving Christian community, committed to serving God, one another and our neighbors. Many have come to Holy Spirit from other denominations, choosing this parish for its warm Christian community and its commitment to service. We accept others for who they are and welcome anyone, regardless of their social, political, and theological views. Come visit us soon. Here's when we get together:
10:30am Eucharistic Service
Children's and Youth Sunday School on vacation during summer.
On the first Wednesday of each month, there is a potluck at 6:00 followed by a Eucharist. (During summer months, these are held off site. Contact the church office for information.)

Our Cuban Friends:
Sunday, August 7, we bid farewell to our Cuban friends! Tulia and her husband Osmani (shown in the photo above) were in Western North Carolina for three weeks, first visiting The Cathedral of All Souls in Asheville, then coming to Holy Spirit Church in Madison County. Tulia serves as priest at the oldest Protestant church in Cuba, Fieles a Jesus (Followers of Jesus) Episcopal Church, our sister church in Matanzas.
(Tulia's farewell sermon will be posted soon on the audio sermons page.)
A Practice from the Climate Committee: Meatless Mondays. Help lessen the impact of the meat industry on global warning by eating less meat. To start off, choose one day a week to abstain from meat. But don't worry, delicious and satisfying meatless recipes abound! To get started on this practice, choose a few recipes from our Meatless Monday page!
